“Hong Kong plays an important role for SIGGRAPH Asia in acting as a gateway to China, which has a large computer graphics industry and has witnessed tremendous growth in terms of academic achievements in the field.”
SIGGRAPH Asia 2013
ACM SIGGRAPH, the Association of Computing Machinery’s special interest group on computer graphics and interactive techniques is known for throwing some of the world’s most engaging exhibition-and-conference events. The events serve as lively platforms for computer graphics executives to exchange information and ideas; and for the businesses to forge partnerships and meet with potential customers.
Accordingly in selecting a location for SIGGRAPH Asia 2013, the group felt that Hong Kong would make for the ideal choice, that after considering various options, it was clear that Hong Kong – which successfully held the event in 2009 – would be the ideal destination to provide for both attendees and exhibitors alike.
Much of the reasoning for this pertained to Hong Kong’s proximity to Mainland China, which provided exhibitors with access to a large pool of potential partners and customers in the fastest growing part of Asia. The city’s liberal immigration policies and central location meanwhile ensured solid attendance by industry executives from across the region and beyond.
“One of the key things that makes Hong Kong very attractive for our exhibitors is the high level of entrepreneurial creativity in the city.”
“SIGGRAPH Asia in Hong Kong was a great show. We met with lots of customers and had some great meetings with our partners. ”
