Hong Kong Takes Home Two Editors’ Choice Awards to Round Up Another Successful Year
Yet another successful year comes to a close for Hong Kong, with a win in the ‘City destination for meetings and events, Greater China’ category and MEHK recognised in the ‘Best Convention Bureau, Greater China’ category of CEI Asia’s inaugural Editors’ Choice 2017 awards, paving a strong beginning for year 2017.
It’s the sixth year running that Hong Kong and the MICE bureau MEHK have earned awards from CEI Asia, but this is the first time that the destination is recognised by editors who have travelled extensively and consulted the industry before coming up with the industry’s top performers for 2016. It’s proven once again the city’s unparalleled position as a prime MICE destination with a service culture best tailored for the MICE segment.
“In 2016, the global economy has remained challenging, and there are forecasts of uncertainty ahead, but one promising trend for Hong Kong has been the steady growth in overnight MICE arrivals, which were up four per cent year-on-year in the first three quarters in 2016,” says Kenneth Wong, General Manager of the Hong Kong Tourism Board’s MICE & Cruise division.
“Looking forward, MEHK will continue its efforts to enhance Hong Kong’s appeal as a centre of excellence in the MICE sector to attract more world-class events to the city,” says Wong.
