SoHo-the Cosmopolitan Chic

Stroll through the historic part of Hong Kong just south of Central and you’ve uncovered SoHo, named after the area south of Hollywood Road. By day it’s full of boutique shopping, curios, fine art and souvenirs. At night, this eclectic entertainment district incorporates some of the best little bars and restaurants in the city.

The action is centred around a few blocks either side of the Mid-Levels Escalator, a series of covered people-movers that ferry workers between their offices and homes in the upmarket Mid-Levels area underneath The Peak. Cosmopolitan cocktail lounges, wine bars, sports bars and restaurants serving the most popular ethnic cuisines from around the world are lined up, side-by-side – all within walking distance. There’s more action on the streets running across the escalator’s route. Try Staunton Street, Elgin Street and Shelley Street for late night tapas and a glass of good red wine.
