Tea Appreciation Class
Tea – its making, drinking and ritual – is so deeply woven into the history of the Chinese people that it has come to represent an entire culture. For the Chinese, tea or ‘cha’ is not just a drink for quenching thirst but also regarded as one of the seven daily basic necessities and consumed almost continuously throughout the day.
A Tea Appreciation Class is a perfect optional tour that can introduce this custom to all members of a MICE group, regardless of their age or fitness. The classes held at locations around the city introduce the varieties of tea, its proper preparation and include a primer on tea-drinking etiquette. Along the way, participants will pick up flashes of Chinese language and culture, as they learn to prepare a perfect cup. Tea appreciation classes prove that a Chinese tea cup may look small, but it holds a great deal more than leaves and water.
