One of Hong Kong’s key exhibition venues is within easy reach of the vibrant neighbourhood of Tsim Sha Tsui: a short Star Ferry trip across the harbour from the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre. The area’s extensive sightseeing, dining and shopping spots make it a favourite with both locals and visitors.

Those with a spare day to explore the historical hub may wish to tour some of the many heritage sites, including the Former Marine Police Headquarters and Former Kowloon–Canton Railway Clock Tower, and the promenade is home to some of Hong Kong’s best museums and arts facilities, including the Hong Kong Museum of Art, the Hong Kong Space Museum, and the Hong Kong Cultural Centre. Tsim Sha Tsui’s Harbour City – one of the city’s largest malls – combines three malls in one, 1881 Heritage houses some of the most prestigious boutiques in Hong Kong, and the beautiful and modern ELEMENTS mall is just a short taxi ride away and on the Airport Express rail line.

Tsim Sha Tsui also presents a wide variety of Chinese and Western restaurants, and is a great spot to try some local dim sum or a bowl of steaming hot wonton noodles. Once the sun sets, or for those who only have time to visit Tsim Sha Tsui after dark, a position on the harbour-front’s Avenue of Stars in time for the spectacular A Symphony of Lights show is an essential stop. The multimedia extravaganza involves more than 30 buildings on both sides of the harbour, and has its own Guinness World Record for being the ‘World’s Largest Permanent Light and Sound Show’. Visitors can then unwind over a nightcap or two at the nearby trendy nightspot Knutsford Terrace.
