HKTB Successfully Secured to Host the Annual Yum China RGM Convention in HK
Gathering Over 11,000 Restaurant Managers to Delve into the City’s Tourism Appeals

The Hong Kong Tourism Board (HKTB) has successfully secured Yum China, a Fortune 500 company, to hold its annual “Yum China RGM Convention” in Hong Kong for the first time from 15 to 18 December. Yum China is the largest restaurant company in China, operating more than 15,000 restaurants under various brands in about 2,200 cities and towns across the country. The annual convention attracted more than 11,000 restaurant managers from all over China, not only to convene discussions at the meeting, but also to seize the opportunity to travel to Hong Kong’s theme parks and renowned tourism spots, further solidifying Hong Kong’s position as the preferred destination for Meetings and Incentives (M&I) Travel.

Ms Joey Wat, Chief Executive Officer, Yum China, said, “Hong Kong is my second home, and I have always hoped to bring our restaurant managers to the city for a visit. Hong Kong is an exceptionally efficient city filled with amazing energy and features a cultural fusion of East and West which makes it paradise for tourism and international cuisine. I look forward to our colleagues taking this opportunity to explore Hong Kong’s flavors and rich cultural heritage. I also want to express special thanks to HKTB for their immense support and hospitality.”

Mr Dane Cheng, HKTB Executive Director, said, “Yum China’s choice of holding its annual major staff convention in Hong Kong highlights the city’s position as a preferred destination for M&I Travel. I am very pleased to welcome the elite restaurant managers of Yum China to Hong Kong, where they will be able to experience and immerse into the city’s diverse cultural charms while enjoying such a fruitful business exchange and travel opportunity. We invite everyone to visit Hong Kong again in the future. HKTB will continue to promote the city’s M&I Travel by introducing developing enrich itineraries for different M&I groups visiting Hong Kong.”

Yum China staff enjoy their travels in Hong Kong and compliment the city’s cultural diversity and internationalisation

Aside from participating in the Convention, Yum China’s restaurant managers visited several renowned tourism attractions in Hong Kong, including a visit to the Peak for its stunning panoramic city views; bringing out their inner child at the Hong Kong Disneyland; getting up and close to animals at the Ocean Park; strolling along the Avenue of Stars in Tsim Sha Tsui to admire the stunning Victoria Harbour and the skyline; and last but not least, savouring local cuisines and traversing the city’s streets and alleyways for spectacular photos.

First-time visitor to Hong Kong, restaurant manager Du Jing stated that she enjoyed going to the Peak and Victoria Harbour. “I especially enjoyed experiencing Hong Kong’s nightlife along the streets in Central, and there are a lot of scenic spots from Hong Kong’s television dramas which I wanted to see with my own eyes,” she added. Du also described Hong Kong as a city that blends the modern and trendy with vintage history, and she wishes to bring her family to visit the city again in future.

Restaurant manager Fu Weidong, who is visiting Hong Kong for the second time, stated that Hong Kong is an international metropolitan city that features a prosperous commerce, amazing delicacies, a spectacular Victoria Harbour, and a diverse and accommodating culture. In addition to traditional attractions such as Causeway Bay and the Victoria Harbour, “I also like visiting Mong Kok and Yau Ma Tei, because most of the scenes in Hong Kong’s crime movies are from there,” he said.

Another restaurant manager, Wang Wenwen said that it’s her second time in Hong Kong and she wanted to visit some different places in the city such as taking a sightseeing bus for a night tour of Hong Kong and riding the Ngong Ping 360 cable cars. “My impression of Hong Kong is that it is a prosperous financial centre and an international metropolitan city. The night skyline of the Victoria Harbour also offers such a stunning view,” she added.

The HKTB will continue to grasp the preferences and trends of Mainland and overseas M&I visitors and step up the promotion of Hong Kong's M&I Travel to attract more visitors to Hong Kong.
