44th Asia Pacific Dental Congress 2023

Themed “Achieving Excellence in Dentistry”, this regional conference was hosted in Hong Kong in conjunction with the iconic dental event, the 12th Hong Kong International Dental Expo and Symposium (HKIDEAS), at Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre on 9-11 June 2023. This event returned to Hong Kong for the fifth time thanks to the influence of the Hong Kong Tourism Board (HKTB)’s long-time partner and Hong Kong Convention Ambassador, Dr. Nelson Wong Chi-wai, who is President of the Asia Pacific Dental Federation cum President of the Hong Kong Dental Association.

More than 5,000 local and global dentists and industry professionals were excited to gather in the city to chart innovative ways forward for the global dental industry through the 3-day programme of lectures, workshops and exhibitions.

As one of the largest and most significant dental congresses, the event provided participants an ideal platform to meet experts and pioneers of various fields and share innovative ideas, explore the potential of new breakthroughs in dental technology and foster closer ties. A key highlight was the presentation of cutting-edge dental research and innovations.

In a site inspection during the selection stage, Dr Fernando Fernandez, Secretary-General of the Asia Pacific Dental Federation, was impressed by the city’s world-class facilities and the memorable exploration of some latest attractions, such as M+ at West Kowloon Cultural District and the revamped Peak Tram, as well as Hong Kong’s strategic location as a regional hub.

The conference kicked off with a high-energy opening ceremony featuring a lion dance performance and drum show arranged by the HKTB.

I’m excited to visit Hong Kong and feel the warm hospitality and vibrancy! I’m looking forward to seeing the 44th Asia Pacific Dental Congress to be staged here! The city provides a perfect platform for dentistry experts to come together and exchange the latest and greatest industry insights, and our guests will certainly enjoy the unique and diverse experiences that Hong Kong has to offer.
